Buenos Aires (VNA) - The consolidation of state agencies through a National Assembly (NA) and People’s Council election helps ensure the effective functioning of the political system while facilitating the continued implementation of governance principles and orientations established by the Party Congress.
The statement was made by journalist Gastón Fiorda of the National Radio of Argentina, a researcher on Vietnamese affairs, on the occasion of Vietnam’s election of deputies to the 16th NA and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term on March 15.
Commenting on the significance of the political event, Fiorda emphasised that the election should be viewed in the broader context of the strategic orientations outlined at the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. According to him, the congress not only reviewed the country’s development achievements over the past five years but also set out medium- and long-term goals aimed at strengthening Vietnam’s position as a middle-income country striving toward upper-middle-income status.
He observed that Vietnam has been widely recognised by the international community for its stable socio-political environment, an increasingly complete legal framework and expanding opportunities for private sector development. Combined with an extensive network of trade relations with major economies, these factors help position Vietnam as a reliable partner in international cooperation and support its long-term strategy for sustainable socio-economic growth.
Regarding the international context, Fiorda noted that the world is currently facing significant uncertainties due to major conflicts such as the war in Ukraine and tensions in the Middle East. Nevertheless, Southeast Asia remains a relatively stable region, where Vietnam maintains solid cooperative relations with many key partners, including China and the US. In his view, as Vietnam’s development model continues to deliver positive results, its core policies are likely to remain consistent while being adjusted as necessary to respond to evolving domestic and international conditions.
Fiorda also praised Vietnam’s recent efforts to reform and streamline its state administrative apparatus to enhance governance efficiency and address institutional overlaps. At the same time, the country has continued to strengthen anti-corruption efforts, contributing to greater discipline and transparency in public administration.
According to the journalist, these factors provide a solid foundation for the current election, helping to consolidate the leadership structure, define legislative priorities and ensure the continued stable operation of Vietnam’s political system in the years ahead./.
