6th international conference on Vietnamese studies opened in Hanoi
on October 28, focusing on the country’s proactive integration and sustainable
In his opening remarks,
Assoc. Prof. and Dr Bui Nhat Quang, President of the Vietnam Academy of Social
Sciences, said the international conference is the most important event of
researchers on Vietnamese studies around the world and a scientific forum
gathering the most valuable findings about the country and its people.
He noted this time’s workshop
has attracted great attention from both domestic and international scholars,
which is a persuasive demonstration of the country’s growing stature in the
world, as well as of the Vietnamese studies’ increasingly strong and positive
influence on the nation’s integration and development process, both at present
and in the future.

Speaking at the event, Deputy
Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said the political report at the 13th National Party Congress, held at the beginning of 2021, affirmed the viewpoint
of taking people as the centre, target, and impulse of development; inspiring
the aspiration for developing a prosperous and happy nation; and bringing into
play the country’s role as an active and responsible member of the
international community, thus helping make and keep peace and boost cooperation
for development in the region and the world.
He held that scientists,
including those working on Vietnamese studies, need to continue studying to
seek ways for tapping into the country’s values and potential so that it can
develop faster and more sustainably.
