Hanoi (VNA) – The National Culture Conference is due to open on November 24 morning, drawing the participation of 600 delegates, including officials from different ministries and sectors, artists, and representatives of socio-political organisations from nationwide.

The event takes place at the National Assembly building in Hanoi and is connected with all the 63 provinces and cities via videoconference. It is organised by the Party Central Committee’s Information and Education Commission and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The conference aims to look into the implementation of the Party’s guidelines, resolutions, directives, and conclusions on cultural affairs; along with the outcomes of the cultural and human development in Vietnam after 35 years since the “Doi moi” (Renewal) period began. It will also identify the major orientations and focal tasks for the cultural sector for 2021 - 2026, with a vision to 2045.

In addition, this is an occasion for authorities to listen to opinions from cultural experts, intellectuals, and artists and encourage them to uphold solidarity and consensus to contribute to the Fatherland and work for the sake of the people. Besides, it is expected to inspire the aspiration for a prosperous and happy nation and bring into play the great national unity to successfully carry out the resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, held in January this year.

In the morning session, Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Party Central Committee’ Information and Education Commission, is scheduled to deliver a report on the cultural development after 35 years of “Doi moi,” and the key orientations and solutions for developing the Vietnamese culture and people under the resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

Participants will listen to speeches by leaders of some localities and several intellectuals, scientists, and artists. Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will also deliver remarks at the conference.

The afternoon session will be chaired by Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung.

Speeches at the event will centre on the momentum and internal strength of culture in the current context; the perfection of legal regulations on culture, sports, and tourism in the 2021 - 2025 period; the development of cultural industries; and the optimisation of cultural heritage values to help turn tourism into a spearhead economic sector.

Talking to the press prior to the conference, Minister Nguyen Van Hung said the event hoped to inspire the people’s aspiration and make a new turning point in cultural and human development in Vietnam.

It will get a deeper insight into relevant achievements, as well as difficulties and weaknesses after 35 years of “Doi moi.” Based on this, competent agencies will specify orientations and tasks for cultural and human development in the time ahead.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will also help participants have a better understanding of the strategy for cultural development by 2030. One of the key tasks of this strategy is to improve people’s awareness of cultural development.

The ministry will review existing rules so as to identify obstacles and make revisions so that legal regulations will serve as not only a management tool, but also a driving force for development, according to the official./.
