Gov’t meeting reviews activities in June, first half

The socio-economic situation in June and six months and regulations hindering COVID-19 prevention and control are among matters for discussion at the Government’s regular meeting chaired by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on July 1.

 

The one-day meeting heard and mulled over six reports on a range of issues in the first six months including the socio-economic situation; the Government’s direction and management; the implementation of key tasks for business climate and national competitiveness improvement; and laws and ordinances that causing obstacles for COVID-19 prevention and control.

In his opening remarks, PM Chinh highlighted the meeting’s importance to assessing socio-economic development between January and June and discussing tasks and solutions for the second half of the year.

He said that the Government has consistently pursued the ‘dual goal’ of COVID-19 containment and economic recovery.

He stressed that the Government has yet changed the preset targets, thus he urged inferior levels to be active, flexible, and creative in realizing the dual goal depending on the pandemic situation in each locality.

The Prime Minister asked Bac Ninh and Bac Giang, which were the epicenters of the fourth wave of COVID-19 resurgence, to focus on boosting business production. Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City and other southern localities are requested to give priority to disease prevention due to a surge of infections./.
